Developing Your Skills
Youâve stitched at least one medium-size canvas using a professional stitch guide, and now youâre eager to take the next step. Youâd love to substitute stitches and threads to make projects more âyou,â but sometimes the choices still feel overwhelming. There are canvases you avoid because they seem too difficult, and more than once youâve tried to choose stitches or threads on your own, only to abandon the project when it didnât turn out the way you hoped.

â Have attempted to choose stitches for a project but abandoned it due to overwhelm or dissatisfaction with the outcome
â Have stitched at least one painted canvas following a professionally written stitch guide
â Know how to do at least 15 decorative stitches
Has all of the skills of stage 1 & 2 stitchers + the following...
â Stitch with a variety of threads (cotton, wool, silk, synthetics, linen, metallics) and understand their characteristics
â Work at least 20 different decorative stitches
â Successfully complete at least two advanced techniques on a needlepoint canvas (e.g., beading, needle felting, open work, silk ribbon, surface embroidery, or Turkey work)
Note: The techniques do not have to be done on the same project.
